Pell - LIMBO (B-)

In my Top 15 post I mentioned that this album might be an underdog when it came to my favorite hip hop album of the year. After 2014’s LP Floating While Dreaming took over my speakers I was immediately craving more music. With a style somewhere between Kid Cudi and Chance the Rapper he takes almost no time to connect with. Keeping it light and catchy, even when talking about heavier subject matter, it makes LIMBO one of the easiest listens in recent memory. My only gripe is that it didn’t come out during summertime but I guess I’ll just have to wait until next year to blare “Queso” on my way down to the beach. I genuinely love every track on this album. Regardless of how the rest of the year goes this will be in my top five hip hop albums for 2015. He’s able to tackle different moods effortlessly, a perfect example being the seamless transition of the calmer track “The Wild” into the harder “Vanilla Sky 2.0”. The album clocks in at only 35 minutes, making this even more of a treat. He's basically giving you no reason to not listening to the entire thing. But I think once you hear the opener, "Monday Morning", you won't want to stop anyway. Simple, fun, and cool. Get on it people.
