UPDATE: Pusha has released another official single, the Ty Dolla $ign/ Desiigner featured track sounds more along the line of the two artists I just listed rather than Pusha's normal vibe. I've stated multiple times I am not a fan of this style of rap, and despite my love of Pusha, that sentiment remains. However, looking on the bright side, a new single means we're that much closer to his upcoming album. All hail King Push.
Pusha has been busy in 2016, though it never seems to be with his own project. He's added features to a few movies (The Birth of a Nation, The Land) as well as other projects (Logic's "Wrist," or most recently, the Zeds Dead track "Too Young" are just two of many) and yet the release of his highly anticipated follow up to last years incredible King Push - Darkest Before The Dawn: The Prelude.
While I haven't heard any news contradicting his statement that it will definitely come out before the end of the year, the last official single he dropped, "Drug Dealers Anonymous," was back in June. However we may have a light at the end of the tunnel as Pusha himself dropped a sample (or just a short track, I don't know!) of an upcoming single via video on YouTube. The Mike Will Made-It produced track, "H.G.T.V.," doesn't disappoint, with a sparing beat matched with a singular snare, he's right at home. He hasn't lost any of his grit as he spits with the combined weight of all the MC's who think they're on his level.
Whenever he decides to release his record sounds right on time to me, as this glimpse of what's to come shows me this temporary delay will be well worth the wait.
