I've been running a bit dry on the 'singles' front, seeing as that it's been almost a week since I've posted. I've been stuck on a few albums while also working on a post that's proven to be quite the undertaking, but let's focus on the here and now...but like...last month's version of that.
Samuel Proffitt released The Grey Notebook in early October. It's simplistic and subtle, the sound that nestles up next to you and you instantly never want it to leave. It has the tempo of new age R&B, though I wouldn't categorize it there. I'm not really sure where I'd place it to be honest, but it's fitting for the fall/winter season, and isn't that all that matters?
This EP comes on the heels of 2015's Blue Notebook No. 10, which carries the same dreamlike atmosphere, but with a bit less control. Listening to both EP's back to back you can hear the growth; and they play together nicely. If you dig the single "Andre," the lead track on The Grey Notebook, then you'll like it all. Now I'm not saying your minds will be blown, but I'm really feeling this, there's definite potential here.
