Morly - "Plucky"

"Plucky" had me engaged within the first 10 seconds. Its soft start, the sparse bongo beat and slow tempo create such a calm, cool atmosphere that you just fall in; making the change at the half way point that much better. Morly has gotten her fair share of attention the last couple years due to 2015's In Defense Of My Muse EP, gaining praise for the instrumental "And Sooner Than We Know It..." (though I preferred "Seraphese"). On her second EP, Something More Holy, she lets her vocals take on a more prominent role as she brings her haunting sound to a new level. Her voice is sensual and her delivery methodical, taking her time as she slides into the electro-R&B classification. Her influences seem to be plentiful, Daughter, FKA Twigs, The xx, etc., which is why I could see her expanding in quite a few directions, so I'll be paying close attention when her debut LP finally comes together. In the meantime...
