Goodness this is good. Sampha has teasing us for far too long. After coming on the scene in 2009 he's been both consistent and elusive, only releasing two EP's since that time while also lending his skills to artists like Jessie Ware, Drake, Kanye, and frequent collaborator MSTRKRFT; as well as others.
His eclectic collection of sounds is always at the forefront; infusing jazz, hip hop, R&B, and whatever else works, often culminating in a dream like exploration across his soundscape. There are few debut LPs I've been more excited to hear, and none that I've had to wait longer for. Then again, it's only given him more time to hone his craft and perfect his vision, and considering the beauty of the two singles he's released this year, in support of his currently untitled upcoming debut, perfection doesn't seem too far off.
"Blood On Me" might just be my favorite song he's put together, and that's saying something. While his record is without a concrete release date, I've been patient long enough, so however long it takes, I don't mind being patient a little longer. He's worth the wait.
