One of my favorite 2013 debuts, London Grammar is finally back with their first single in four years, a single which I'm assuming will be in support of their as of now unnamed sophomore record. I didn't listen to If You Wait a whole lot in 2016, but after only 30 seconds of the new single I was right back under their spell, and it felt as if I'd never left.
Keeping in tune with their ambitiously melancholy approach, "Rooting For You" provides the same downtempo dreamscape you've grown to love from the British trio. Hannah Reid's vocals seem to have ascended to new heights, equal parts subtle and powerful, it's impossible to deny as she sheds her skin over sparing and atmospheric orchestrations, that only make themselves known if you choose to hear them.
2017 is going to be a good year.
